Ram Babu Sharma replaced as DPCC chief, J P Agarwal new incumbent
New Delhi, Sept 7 (UNI) Initiating its 'reshuffle drive', pending since the corporation election debacle, the Congress today replaced Delhi Pradesh Congress president Ram Babu Sharma with Rajya Sabha MP Jai Prakash Agarwal.
An announcement to this effect was issued this evening on the orders of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
The announcement brought to an end months of speculation about the likely heads to roll in the aftermath of the MCD election defeat suffered by the Congress, in which the name of the DPCC chief topped the list.
Ashok Gehlot, incharge of Delhi, said Mr Ram Babu Sharma worked hard to strengthen the Congress party in Delhi during his tenure.
The party would utilise his services in a better way elsewhere in future, he added.
Welcoming the party High Command decision, Mr Sharma said he was a disciplined soldier of the party and added that he was committed to follow whatever Congress president Sonia Gandhi commanded.
