Promotion of Medical Tourism along Kundli-Maasesar-Palwal Expressway

New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) Haryana Government is seriously considering a proposal to set up a Municipal Corporation for Gurgaon and a provision has been made to promote medical tourism along Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway where a number of companies are expected to set up their units.

Launching the construction of Rs 800-crore Fortis International Health Sciences Institute in Gurgaon, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said this institute would come up over an area of 11 acres and have a capacity of 950 beds.

Mr Hooda said there was no second opinion in the fact that Gurgaon would emerge as a major centre of medical tourism in the country with opening up of opportunities for medical tourism India after globalisation.

He said the Fortis Group has made its own identity in its six years of existence despite the fact that it was not easy to attain this level in this era of increasing competitiveness.

He said in this hospital, apart from the patients their attendants would also be taken care of and the Fortis Group would also set up a hospital for the poor.

The Chairman of Ranbaxy Laboratories, Mr Harpal Singh said they would also set up a centre for medical sciences in Gurgaon and would provide health services of international standard in Gurgaon.

Managing Director of Fortis Institute Mr Shavender Mohan Singh spoke about the facilities which would be provided at the new institute.

The Chief Minister also visited the local Civil Hospital where he dedicated an MRI machine costing Rs 5.5 crore. With this, the Civil Hospital, Gurgaon has become the first civil hospital in the State to have this facility.

Civil Surgeon, Dr S S Dalal said those admitted to this hospital would be able to avail this facility by paying a fee of Rs 1,000 whereas in case of outdoor patients they would have to pay Rs 2,500. Those admitted to private ward or to any private hospital would have to pay Rs 4,500.

Mr Dalal pointed out that the private centres offering this facility were charging between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 for each test.

Mr Hooda also presented the keys of two hydraulic platforms to the Chairman of Municipal Council, Mr Ravinder Kataria at the Sector 29 Fire Station. These hydraulic platforms have been purchased at a cost of Rs nine crore and can take the firemen upto the height of 42 meters.
