Production warrant issued against Abu Salem

New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjeev Jain has issued a production warrant for September 27 against underworld don Abu Salem who is presently lodged in a Mumbai jail.

The case was registered by a special cell of the Delhi Police for extortion and criminal intimidation. Salem, along with his associates Ishtiyaq Ahmed and Chander Prakash had demanded Rs one crore from Rajat Nagrath, a South Delhi based businessman in 2002.

Nagrath had registered an FIR in the Lodhi Colony police station in South Delhi.

Salem, a co-accused in a MCOCA case registered in 2002 for allegedly attempting to extort Rs five crore from a contractor, was extradited from Portugal in 2005.

The don, who is facing trial in as many as eight cases, is interned in the Arthur Road jail in Mumbai while Ishtiyaq Ahmed and Chander Prakash are lodged in Bhopal jail.
