Police and CPI (Maoist) exchange bullets
Ranchi, Sep 7 (UNI) In a fierce gunbattle, police and banned CPI (Maoist) exchanged thousand rounds of bullets near Mukrum village under Kisko police station area in Jharkhand's Lohardaga district today.
Lohardaga District Suprintendent of Police Subodh Prasad said the encounter started after police from Laterhar and Lohardaga districts jointly conducted raids to nab culprits of yesterday's encounter.
Mr Prasad said no casualty was reported during the hour-long encounter adding Latehar S P Ravikant Dhan was also present at the spot.
Yesterday, CPI(M) in an encounter with Railway Police Force (RPF) injured an RPF jawan and looted seven sophisticated arms from them at Richughuta railway station.
On September 5, in a bid to show their respective strength, two rival groups of proscribed CPI (Maoist) and Jharkhand Sangharsh Janmukti Morcha exchanged bullets that lasted for about two hours at Aan village under Chandwa police station, about 25 km from Latehar.
Three houses were razed to the ground in the gun battle.
