Parliamentary Panel regrets AIIMS controversy
New Delhi, Sep 7: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health has expressed concern that resident doctors at AIIMS had to go on strike recently for getting their degrees and urged the government to take measures to prevent the recurrence of such a situation in the future.
Standing Committee Chairman Amar Singh told reporters here today that the Committee, at its meeting on August 30, had passed a proposal urging the government to take measures to ensure that such an unfortunate situation did not occur in the future.
Mr Singh also took exception to the fact that the AIIMS Act amendment was not referred to the Parliamentary Committee and said that by not referring such important bills, the government was putting a question mark on the authority of such panels.
