New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) The government does not propose to amend the Constitution to require that international treaties and agreements come into effect only after ratification by Parliament, the Lok Sabha was told today.

In a written reply, Minister of State for Law and Justice, K Venkatapathy explained that in India, the Union government with the approval of the Cabinet conclude all treaties and agreements with foreign countries.

Legislature's approval is required for any implementing legislation, wherever necessary, Venkatapathy went on.

On reforms recommended by a government panel which went into the working of the Constitution, the Minister replied that ''action lies'' with the Ministries or Departments administratively concerned with the subject matter of the recommendations.

Copies of its report have already been forwarded to the Ministries and Departments, he said.
