New 300-bed hospital in south Kashmir within 3 years
Srinagar, Sep 7 (UNI) A new 300-bed district hospital at Anantnag in south Kashmir would be functional in three years, a high-level meeting said today.
The construction of the hospital, to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 57 crore, would commence from September 15.
On completion, the hospital would provide an upgraded and extensive Medicare in the largest south Kashmir district.
Instructions for starting the construction from next week were given by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad during the meeting. The Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC), also made a presentation on the upcoming hospital at the meeting.
Found amounting to five crore had already been released for the project.
Mr Azad told the JKPCC officials to build the building in phases so that each completed wing could be made operational every year.
This would ensure that the patients do not wait for three years for completion of the entire project to avail specialised treatment and diagnostic facilities, he added.
Besides landscaping the premises, fast growing ornamental and shade trees should also be planted simultaneously, the Chief Minister said and issued instructions for relocating the garbage dump and a PDD structure from the new hospital complex.
Spread over 60 kanals of land, the four-storeyed building would have two lakh sq ft built up area and the diagnostic and disease management facilities.
The three wings of the hospital would provide facilities such as CT Scan, MRI, X-ray, Ultrasound, Colour Doppler, Mamography, Bone-density, Physiotherapy, OPD with sample collection, procedure room, treatment room and sterile store.
The wards would be in the first and second floors while the ICU and operation theatres would be in the third floor. The hospital would have the provision of private rooms as well.
The new building would be linked with the existing hospital through a corridor with provision for future extension. Other facilities planned included incinerator, sewerage treatment plant and electric sub-station, the meeting said.
