Militant killed, CRPF bunker attacked, arms seized in J&K

Srinagar, Sep 7 (UNI) Security forces gunned down a militant and busted a hideout while ultras lobbed a hand grenade on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) bunker in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spokesman said today.

He said security forces and the police in a joint operation, killed a militant during an encounter at Sangiot-Harni in Poonch district of Jammu region early today.

In another incident, suspected militants hurled a hand grenade on the bunker of the CRPF's 160 battalion at Bohri Kadal in downtown city last evening.

However, the grenade failed to explode, police said, adding that the Bomb Disposal Squad of the police later defused it. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the attackers.

Security forces and the police, during a search operation at Sawjian sector in Poonch district, busted a militant hideout established in a natural cave at Jamia Gali, the spokesman said.

They seized seven RPGs with boosters, 11 RPG covers, 760 Pika rounds, one box of AK ammunition, six kg RDX besides some utensils, clothes and medicine from the hideout.

Security forces also seized one pistol, one magazine, ten rounds, ten UBGL grenades and four RPG shells from Kalai top forest area in the same district last evening, he added.

During a search operation at Rish Bagla Dhok in Rajouri district of Jammu region last evening, security forces seized 365 Pika rounds, the spokesman said.
