Medical colleges in Punjab cannot ask for bank guarantee
Chandigarh, Sept 7 (UNI) The Punjab Government today took a serious view of various private medical colleges pressurising the candidates to furnish huge amount of bank guarantee which was beyond their means and for not accepting the bonds as specified in the notification.
According to an official spokesman, complaints have been received from candidates in connection with demand of bank guarantee by the colleges as per clause 9 (b) note 2 of the notification dated May 21 this year. He said that this clause only contains that the fee would be payable on annual bases and institutes would not insist on the candidates to deposit fees of entire course in advance. It further contained that at the most candidates could be asked to furnish a bond/bank guarantee that they would be liable to pay balance fee for the whole course even if they leave the institute/course midway.
The spokesman said the state government has taken a serious note of non-compliance of guidelines as contained in the notification ibid and prospectus issued by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. The Director Medical Research has been issued instructions to take appropriate measures for strict compliance of these instructions by the institutes.
The spokesman said that the Director has been asked to immediately report to the government the cases of non-compliance of instructions/guidelines by any institute.
