Maken admits delay in slum dwellers' rehabilitation
New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken today admitted in the Lok Sabha that there has been a delay in relocating the eligible slum dwellers due to non-availilty of plots.
He said the Slum and JJ Department of the MCD has been approaching the Delhi government for acquiring land for this purpose. But due to non-availabilty of sufficient land, the DDA has decided that barring those cases for which court directions have been recieved, plots should not be alloted for rehabilitation of slum dwellers and instead they should be provided ''low cost housing flats'' in multi-storey buildings.
Mr Maken was replying to queries in the Lok Sabha on inordinate delay in rehabilitation of slum dwellers.
