Lok Sabha adjourned over N-deal, NDA demands JPC
New Delhi, Sep 6 (UNI) The Lok Sabha was today adjourned till 1200 hrs with the BJP-led Opposition stalling the Question Hour, demanding the constitution of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to go into the India-US nuclear deal.
''We want JPC,'' the NDA members, led by BJP Deputy Leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra, shouted as soon as Speaker Somnath Chatterjee called the first question after giving oath to new-elected member from Jamshedpur, Mrs Suman Mahato.
Mr Chatterjee's repeated pleas that he would try to hear them after the Question Hour fell on deaf ears.
''I have no control over it. It is not decided by me,'' he said.
The Speaker said it was unfortunate that the Question Hour was being stalled repeatedly.
''You seem to be raising that slogan day after day,'' he said.
After failing to restore order, Mr Chatterjee adjourned the House till 1200 hrs after five minutes of its meeting.
Yesterday also the NDA members did not allow the House to function over the nuclear deal.
