Kerala HC tells R'ways to dispose plea against Palakkad bifurcation
Kochi, Sep 7 (UNI) The Kerala high court today directed the Chairman, Railway Board, to dispose of the representation filed by an NGO against the bifurcation of the Palakkad division.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice K T Sankaran disposed the petition filed by R Gokul Prasad, Secretary, People's Forum for Natural Justice, who challenged the action on the part of the Central Government and the Railway Ministry in bifurcating the Palakkad division and constituting the Salem division.
The Petitioner had earlier approached the Supreme Court on the issue. The apex court on August 13, 2007, directed him to file his representation to the authorities.
Thereafter, he filed the representation to the prime minister and chairman of the Railway Board on August 14. However, the representation was not disposed of by the authorites and hence the petitioner approached the high court for a direction to dipose the representation.
