Chennai, Sep 7 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today alleged that leader of the opposition J Jayalalithaa was instigating her party volunteers against the government and levelling false charges against the police, as she was under the constant fear of getting arrested.

Answering a question on the AIADMK leader's reaction to his warning of criminal action against her for spreading rumours about the intelligence wing and terror attack, he said Ms Jayalalithaa was coming out with such reactions as she feared arrest.

Referring to Ms Jayalalithaa's reaction that he was trying to scare her, Mr Karunanidhi said this showed her fear that the DMK government would take revenge against her for arresting him after breaking open his house at midnight during her regime.

He dismissed as false, the AIADMK leader's charge that two of his Cabinet colleagues had intercepted the reports sent by intelligence police and dumped without bringing them to his notice.

It was only during her regime, the intelligence police was sending reports as they never had an opportunity to meet her. Now, the intelligence police personnel meet him regularly in the morning and brief him of all the developments, he said.

He said it might suit Ms Jayalalithaa to arrest a former Chief Minister at midnight without any valid ground and later cut a sorry figure after failing to proceed with the case, but the DMK government would act in a just manner with all evidences. An innocent would not be punished and the guilty would not escape from the clutches of law, he warned.

Ms Jayalalithaa should realise that levelling false charges against the police, intelligence and law department would amount to violation of law, Mr Karunanidhi said.
