The RTA felt that the Indian Army having wide ranging experince in counter-insurgency operations in NE states and Jammu and Kashmir would be a great source of learning for them to tackle the domestic menace where separatist group like Pulo had been a major cause cause of concern.

Codenmed Exercise Maitree-07, the Indo-Thai joint excerise is currently underway at the Sikh Regiment Centre, Ramgarh Cannt, the first such project in Jharkhand.

The excercise would conclude on March 19 Lt Col Vinai Pimai of the RTA told UNI here that they were greatly helped by such operations and their army had exchanged experinces with the US, Australia and Singapore armies, to name a few.

Last year, Indian Army had gone to Thailand on such programmes, he said, ading more and more trips would follow between the two sides in future to adapt their strategic move to combat global terorism effectively.
