HP to extend NRGES to the whole state from next fiscal year

Dharamshala, Sep 7 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said that the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) will be extended to the whole state from the next financial year.

Addressing a public meeting at Yol Cantt here, he said the scheme being implemented in Kangra, Mandi, Sirmaur and Chmaba districts would be extended to the other eight districts of the state.

Mr Singh said Kangra district was a new addition into the scheme during the current financial year for which 68,662 job cards had been issued in the district and a total of 32,417 people had been provided 100 days of employment in these districts.

Besides, over 40,000 daily wagers have been regularised in different government departments during the last 24 hrs, he said.

He said two more developmental Blocks have been created at Dharamsala in Kangra district and Nankhari in Rampur Sub Division of Shimla district to facilitate the people of the area.

The new developmental block would be have jurisdiction limit within the Dharamsala assembly constituency, he said, adding that with this the long pending demand of the people of the area has been fulfilled.
