Heroin worth more than Rs 1 Cr seized from Kolkata-bound bus

Krishnagar, Sep 7 (UNI) Customs officials today seized heroin worth Rs 1 crore 25 lakh from a Kolkata-bound Baharampur bus at Ranaghat on NH-34.

The seized contraband weighs 1 kg 250 gms and is worth Rs 1 crore 25 lakh in the international market, said Ranaghat Customs Superintendant Santanu Kaur.

Acting on a tip-off, raids were conducted on the national highway.

Investigations were on to nab the culprits. However, no arrests have yet been made.

Earlier, on June 29, a similar incident had occurred when customs officials seized contraband worth Rs 2 cr 16 lakh from a government bus at Ranaghat.
