HC directs re-arrest of Bulton and his nine associates
Kolkata, Sep 7 (UNI) The Calcutta High Court today passed an order directing the re-arrest of a notorious criminal and his nine associates, who were acquitted by a lower court on charges of killing two people.
The two-Judge bench, comprising Justices Amit Talukdar and Arun Kumar Bhattacharjee, issued the ruling on an appeal filed by the prosecution, seeking the re-arrest of Bulton and his nine associates.
Bulton and his accomplices were arrested for killing Sameer Howladar and his friend on June 29, 2004. They were charged with the murder of the two and tried in a district Sessions Court in Barasat, the distict town of North 24 Paraganas. However, all of them were acquitted for lack of evidence by the lower court.
Later, the state government moved an appeal before the High Court, which directed the re-arrest of the accused.
