Hazaribagh bandh passes off peacefully

Hazaribagh, Sep 7 (UNI) The Hazaribagh Bachao Morcha-sponsored 12-hour ''Hazaribagh bandh'' passed off peacefully today, evoking total response.

The bandh was called to protest the state government move to make Ramgarh, a sub-division of Hazaribagh district, a separate district.

National Highway connecting Ranchi-Patna remained blocked for about five hours, official sources said adding all the business establishments downed their shutters, bringing life almost to a standstill.

About 45 people were arrested and later released by the district police, sources added.

The functioning in judicial court was also paralysed as the District Bar Association had already filed a petition in Jharkhand High Court against the state government hearing, scheduled on September 10.

Earlier, the state government had announced that Ramgarh would be made a separate district on Sepetember 12.
