Governor, Sanatombi awards announced

Imphal, Sep 7 (UNI) The Governor and Rajkumari Sanatombi awards were announced by Chairman of the Rajkumari Foundation Th Haridas here today.

The presentation ceremony will be held on September 10 and the awards will be handed over by Manipur Governor Dr Shivinder Singh Sidhu.

Nganthoi Khuraijam, a student was honoured with the Governor's Award for the year 2007.

The Governor's Award was instituted in 1998 to promote and encourage the students of Rajkumari Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya at Haotal in Imphal for excellence in academic and co-curricular activities.

The Rajkumari Sanatombi Devi Award, instituted in 1983, was given for outstanding performance in the field of education, arts, drama, sport, social work, physically challenged persons, traffic control (police), organisation of children home, journalism and handicraft.

This year, ten awards will be given in the field of education, teachers, sport, physically challenged persons and traffic police.
