Godhra train carnage accused seek nod to give media interviews

Ahmedabad, Sep 7 (UNI) Fourteen Godhra train carnage accused, lodged in the Sabarmati central jail under POTA, today moved an application before the special court to allow them media interviews.

The accused Mohd Kutubuddin Ansari, Firozkhan Jafarkhan Pathan, Sabir Anwar Ansari, Yasin Habib Malik, Yusuf Alubhai Kazi, Suleman alias Tiger Ahmed Hussain Pir, Mohd Saeed Abdul Salam Badam, Iliyas Sikander Giteli, Mohd Hanif Abdullah Badam, Bilal Abdullah Badam, Usmangani Coffeewala, Mushrafkhan Ashrafkhan Pathan, Abdul Reham Abdul Majid Dhantiya and Anwar Mohd. Meda, sought necessary order from the POTA court so as to enable them to give interviews.

The court has fixed September 12, 2007 for hearing the applications.

All the applicants were in judicial custody and had been arrested for their alleged involvement in the Godhra train burning case in which 57 people were killed on February 28, 2002. The case was registered at Godhra railway police station.

Advocates Rohit Verma and Irfan I Munshi moved the applications on behalf of accused in the POTA court.
