Fujinon sues Motorola for patent infringement
New York, Sep 7: Fujifilm's Fujinon Corp has sued Motorola Inc, alleging several of its mobile phones, including its flagship Razr models, infringed its patents, according to court documents yesterday.
Motorola's various phones infringe three patents covering the imaging lens, Fujinon alleged in the complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Delaware.
Besides Razr, the lawsuit also alleges various versions of Motorola's Rokr, Slvr and Pebl models also infringe its patents.
A Motorola spokesman said the company never comments on pending litigation.
''That said, we have reviewed Fujinon's lawsuit and believe this is a matter that involves our supplier relationships and will work to resolve the matter through them,'' spokesman Chuck Kaiser said in a statement.
Motorola's Razr phone first went on sale in late 2004.
Models such as Slvr and Rokr were inspired by the Razr.
Fujinon, an optical equipment manufacturer based in Japan, is seeking unspecified damages from Motorola.
Motorola's shares were up 17 cents, or 1 percent, at $17.36 during late trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
