Five policemen hurt after girl killed by leopard in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 7 (UNI) At least five police personnel were wounded today when an irate mob attacked them after a girl was killed by a wild leopard in Handwara area of Kupwara district in north Kashmir.

Police said a girl, Shagufta, was attacked and killed by the leopard near her residence at Machipora in Handwara area at 1830 hrs yesterday.

A police party immediately rushed to the spot in an ambulance.

However, an agitated mob, demanding presence of wildlife staff, attacked the ambulance, carrying the police personnel, they added.

The vehicle was badly damaged in the attack, police said.

Five policemen were also wounded in this attack by the mob.
