Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt receives extortion threat

Mumbai, Sep 7 (UNI) Film-maker Mahesh Bhatt today received a threat call from the underworld for ''portraying some hard facts about the world of crime in his latest released film Dhoka''.

Talking to UNI this evening, Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Rakesh Maria confirmed that the film maker had received some threatening calls.

Mr Maria said, ''Security for Mr Bhatt is being reviewed and it would be strengthened accordingly. The matter is under investigation.'' He said the threat call was in connection with Mr Bhatt's latest released film ''Dhoka''.

Mr Bhatt, incidentally, had faced an attempt on his life by members of the Ravi Pujari Gang against whom charges were framed in a MCOCA court here today.

Mr Bhatt, when contacted by UNI, declined to comment on the incident, saying he had been advised by the police not to discuss the matter with the media.
