Discount on challans at 'Traffic Lok Adalat' on Sept 8-9

New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) Heavy discount awaits traffic violators at the two-day 'Mega Traffic Lok Adalat' being organised by Delhi Traffic Police in association with the Delhi Legal Services Authority.

The September 8-9 'adalat' is an effort to dispose of nearly 10-12 lakh pending cases of traffic violations, Jt Commissioner (Traffic) Qamar Ahmed told mediapersons.

Stressing that it was a 'case settlement' effort and not a 'penalty compounding camp', the Jt CP said, ''The special adalat, being held on a holiday, would be exclusively for traffic challan cases and would operate between 1000-1600 hrs.'' Notices issued by the Traffic police would be settled at all the four court complexes in Karkardooma, Tis Hazari, Patiala House and Rohini where Metropolitan Magistrates and Special Magistrates will preside over the adalats, he said.

''In all 47 special courts are being organised for the two-day endeavour.'' People who want to know the details of their vehicles' pending challans could simply type 'N' on their mobile, leave a space, type their vehicle registration number and then SMS it to '50100', said Mr Ahmad.

''Also, people can attend and make payments of the notices/challans at any of the four adalats, irrespective of the place and area it has been issued.'' It was a golden opportunity for people to settle their traffic related issues, he added.

UNI
