Mumbai, Sep 7: A local court today remanded fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim's aide Iqbal Attarwala in police custody till September 13.

Attarwala was arrested from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport yesterday immediately after he arrived here from Dubai in connection with his alleged involvement in a land grabbing case dating back to the year 2004.

Attarwala was produced before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S Y Shisode this morning who remanded him in police custody till September 13.

Police had attached and sealed Attarwala's property in Mumbai as he was wanted in the land grabbing and extortion case and had been declared as absconder.

Ranchhodbhai Patel, a 63-year-old builder, had lodged a complaint with the Malad police against Attarwala in the landgrabbing case.

In his complaint, Mr Patel had said he had purchased plots of land from one Haribhau Keni at Chinch Bunder in Malad in 2004. On November 29 of the same year, at around 0100 hours, Iqbal Attarwala, Atul Patel, Lalbhai Shah and few others had broken the lock of the gate, assaulted security guards and threatened the watchman and six tenants of dire consequences if they did not vacate the premises.

Attarwala had subsequently fled to Dubai fearing his arrest in the case. Police had declared him as an absconding accused along with Chhota Shakeel.
