Chirag range of desktops and laptops launched in HP

Shimla, Sept 7 (UNI) After Lenovo and Intex, Kolkata-based RP Group of Industries today launched its range of desktops and laptops here in Himachal Pradesh ''These desktops and laptops have been produced at our assembly line at Parwanoo,'' Chairman of the RP Group Kaustuv Ray said at a press conference here.

He said the IT was scouting for land to establish a full fledged assembly line that would involve an investment of about Rs 40 crore.

While the desktop models are priced between Rs 14,500 and Rs 28,500, the laptop and notebooks range between Rs 24,000 to Rs 63,000, he said.

Mr Ray said RP Infosystems was coming up with and IT hardware SEZ in West Bengal that would involve an investment of Rs 1,000 crore.

The company's first unit that came up in Ghusuri in West Bengal recorded a growth of 150 per cent which allowed it to capture 16 per cent of the market share in the eastern state.

The company forayed into north India early this year, he added.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh launched the products early here today.
