MP: Bravery award for class 4 student
Bhopal, Sep 7: Eleven year-old Anita Singh Lodh of Panna has been selected for the first Rani Avantibai bravery award, while Mrs Manorama Joshi of Indore will be conferred with the Rajmata Vijayraje Scindia social service award, it was officially announced today.
The awards, instituted by the Madhya Pradesh government in 2006 to recognise outstanding contribution of girls and women in the field of bravery and social service, will be presented at a function to be organised by the Women and Child Development department on September 10.
Recipient of the national bravery award on Republic Day this year, Miss Anita, a resident of village Baldupurva in Ajaygarh tahsil of Panna district, is a class four student. At the age of nine, while displaying courage and strong will, she had saved an 8-year-old girl from drowning in a nullah near the village on August 2, 2005.
Born on January 9, 1946, Mrs Manorama Joshi had set up NGO 'Sewa' in 1985 for the socio-economic development of women and bidi workers, besides extending facilities for health and education. She is also associated with many organisations engaged in welfare of women and child labour, besides a member of the advisory committee constituted for minimum wages by the Madhya Pradesh government.
