Bhubaneswar, Sep 7 (UNI) Hundreds of students affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) today held demonstrations at Rourkela and Bhubaneswar, demanding the abolition of year back system.

Police chased away the agitating students here as they did not pay any heed to repeated requests to disperse the busy Mahatma Gandhi Marg, where they had been agitating for hours.

A Rourkela report said the students blocked roads at many places and demonstrated before the BPUT office in support of their demand.

BPUT Vice-Chancellor Omkar Mohanty when contacted said the university had given many relaxations to the students in the semester system. He further said the BPUT had agreed to discuss and sort out if any anomaly was noticed by the college authorities in the marks of the students.

Mr Mohanty also made it clear that the university had only issued the provisional marksheet to the Engineering Colleges.
