Book on Shanta to be released on Sept 13

Dharamshala, Sept 6 (UNI) A book on the life and times of former union minister Shanta Kumar would be released on his 74th birhtday here on Spetember 13 by Punjab Kesari's Chief Editor Vijay Chopra and RSS chief of northern region Bajran Lal, BJP leaders said.

The book, titled ''Antodayia Puresh - Shri Shanta Kumar'', would be released on his 74th birthday at the Vivekananda Medical Research Institute at Palampur.

Senior party leaders Ramesh Dhawala, Kishen Kapoor, Dr Rajan Shushant and Vipin Parmar said the book written by Satish Dhar would be released at the function in which Swami Sabhodanand, Regional Chief of Chinmayanad Mission, would also be present.

The book highlights Mr Kumar's contribution in the introduction of Antodaya movement, which he initiated in 1977 as state Chief Minister and then again in 1990 and ultimately in 1999 after he was named union minister in the Vajpayee Government.

The BJP leaders said far-sightedness with right direction, particularly for the service of the downtrodden poor, was in his blood and this trait has been reflected in the book.
