BMC to create artificial ponds for Ganesh idol immersion

Mumbai, Sep 7 (UNI) The administration of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will create one artificial pond each in all the 24 civic wards, keeping in mind the increasing number of Ganesh idols in the city.

Speaking to the media here today, Additional Municipal Commissioner Kishore Gajbeye said, ''The ponds will be 10 feet deep and 15 feet wide and will accommodate most of the smaller idols in the respective wards.'' He added, ''The area for the ponds has been identified in most of the wards and the remaining will be done before the festival starts.'' All the mandals installing Ganesh idols in the city throng to Shivaji Park, Juhu Beach and other places for immersing the idols and the building of artificial ponds will ease the crowd in the city.
