BJP to launch decisive fight against Mayawati govt in UP
Lucknow, Sep 7 (UNI) Taking a lesson from the past mistakes, Uttar Pradesh BJP, under new guard, has decided to launch a decisive battle against Mayawati ruled government for its failure to take pro-people steps in the state.
''No half measures now for the Bharatiya Janata Party and it would launch a sustained agitation from September 15 in support of the payment of dues of cane farmers to start with,'' newly elected state BJP President Rampati Ram Tripathi told reporters at a luncheon press conference this afternoon.
Asserting the party may be down in the state but not out, he said it was bound to stage a grand come back with the support of people of the state who had been a harried lot during the casteist rules of Mulayam Singh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party and now the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
BJP workers would stage demonstrations at the gate of defaulter sugar mills from September 15 demanding payment of farmers' dues failing which the party would expand its protest to tehsils and district headquarters, the newly elected UP BJP President said.
He said the party workers were prepared to face next Lok Sabha polls with rejuvenated vigour and vowed to win back its lost party base.
The BJP leader said the BJP was poised to regain its lost ground as the present BSP government, even during the short period, had already shown its inability to provide good governance. In less than four months, the law and order has worsened, the women victimisation, loot murders and rape incidents were on rise forcing the people to think if they had elected a right government, he pointed out.
Mr Tripathi, whose elevation as the state party chief was a rather surprising move, said despite being a low-profile state party leader, he would try his best to deliver for the party in the next parliamentary polls.
