BJP MLAs meet LG on PAC report implementation, seek CBI probe

New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) The Delhi BJP legislature group today met Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna to seek implementation of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) recommendations on the alleged scam in the privatisation of electricity distribution in the capital and demanded a CBI probe into the matter.

Taking a serious view on the issue the LG heard us all patiently and asked his official to prepare an immediate report on the matter, said Leader of Opposition in Delhi Vidhan Sabha Jagdish Mukhi, who led the group.

''With his positive attitude we hope he would take immediate action,'' he added.

Stating that the Sheila Dikshit government had clearly something to hide as despite a High Court direction to present the Action Taken Report on the issue on floor of the house latest by September two, Mr Mukhi said the govenment instead obtained a stay against it.

''The Rs 12,500 crore scam in the privatisation of electricity distribution in the capital, which had been authenticated by the CAG report and about which the PAC report also mentioned, needs to be probed indepth by the CBI to nail the beneficiaries,''he said.

Meanwhile, speaking on the issues that would be raised in the next week session of the Delhi Assembly, Mr Mukhi said regularisation of unauthorised colonies, corruption in the DDA land allotment case and the general deteriorating law and order situation in the capital would be some of the important issues.

''Besides, order on 24-hour opening of wine shops, sex education in schools, water scarcity in several areas, rocketing price rise and inflated electricity bills would also be put forward as it concerns majority of the Delhi's population.'' Mr Mukhi also said that the situation in the capital was bad due to wrong administration and anti-people policies of the state government. ''This has forced us to put the government on the mat,'' he said.
