Banned Phenyl Propanone, being sent to Myanmar, seized; 4 arrested

New Delhi, Sept 7 (UNI) Laying its hands on one of the biggest seizures in recent times of illegal drugs being sent abroad, police seized nearly a tonne of Phenyl Propanone worth nearly a crore and arrested four persons of an inter-state gang of drug peddlars.

The seizure was made from four men, arrested yesterday from Vikaspuri in West Delhi following a tip-off Jt Commissioner (Special Cell) Karnal Singh told mediapersons.

''95 kgs of the banned phenyl propanone, Rs six lakh in cash, nine mobile phones and some packaging material, along with the two vehicles they had come in, were seized from them.'' Interrogation revealed that the drug was to be sent to Myanmar via Moreh in Manipur, he said adding that while it was bought at nearly Rs 25,000 per kilogram here, the banned substance was sold at Rs 80,000 per kg in Myanmar.

The source of the drug was being ascertained, he added.

In another incident, the Narcotics Branch sleuths seized 500 grams heroin, worth Rs 50 lakh in the international market, and arrested one person from Anand Vihar area in East Delhi yesterday.
