Arms smuggler arrested, huge cache of weapons seized

Sambalpur, Sep 7 (UNI) Sambalpur police have arrested an arms smuggler and recovered a huge cache of weapons from his possession.

Police here today said one Jitendra, a resident of Bihar and a key person in supplying illegal arms to many parts of the state, was nabbed yesterday.

Sambalpur Superintendent of Police S Devadatta Singh said the investigation was centred on different angles of the crime and the involvement of other people in the illegal arms smuggling in the state.

Police also started probing as to whether the arms smuggler had any connection with the Maoists operating in the area, he said.

The SP clarified that none involved in the crime would be spared.
