AP Governor presents doctor of science to 4 persons

Tirupati, Sep 7 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Governor and Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara University N D Tiwari today awarded the doctor of science degrees to four eminent personalities in their respective fields at the Tarakarama Stadium here.

Participating in the 49th convocation of the university, the Governor conferred the doctorates to Prof Goverdhan Mehta, former Director, IISC, Department of Organic Chemistry, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, T Ramasami, Secretary, Union Government of India, New Delhi, Amaraja Batteries Chairman and Managing Director Galla Ramachandra Naidu and former Chief Minister and Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha Member N Janardhan Reddy.

Mr Janardhan Reddy could not attend the function, as he escaped unhurt in a landmine blast near Vakada of Kota mandal in Nellore district today when he was proceeding to Tirupati to receive the award.

One of the receipent Mr Naidu, was awarded the 'spirit of excellence' award by the Academy of Fine Arts here, Industrial Economist Business Excellent Award by Industrial Economist, Chennai and Excellence Award by the Institute of Economic Studies, New Delhi.
