80 people killed in accident in Rajasthan
Jaipur, Sep 7 (UNI) At least 80 people were killed when a truck-trailor plunged into a gorge at Daisuri-Ki-Nal in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan late this evening.
Rajsamand SP Rupinder SIngh, while talking to UNI on phone, confirmed that 80 people had died while the rescue operation was being carried out on a war footing.
He said while 80 bodies had been recovered from the spot so far, efforts were on to lift the trailor with the help of a crane.
The casualties were likely to rise as many people were trapped under the trailor, he added.
The accident occurred when the driver of the truck-trailor lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a turn at Daisuri-Ki-Nal. About two hundred people were travelling on the ill-fated trailor which was on way to Ram Devra temple, he said.
Meanwhile, Udaipur IG Rajiv Dasot said ambulances, cranes and medical teams had reached the accident site from the neighbouring districts of Jodhpur and Pali to provide immediate medical aid to the injured.
