Srinagar, Sep 7 (UNI) The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), the country's largest telecom service provider today said it will install 175 new mobile towers across the Kashmir valley to provide two lakh more cellular connections.

Similarly, the company will also install 73 CDMA (WLL) towers in the Kashmir valley during the current year.

The BSNL services in Kashmir were reviewed at a Telephone Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting here.

Parliament member A R Shaheen and Legislators Ali Mohammad Sagar, Sartaj Madni and Shameema Firdous participated in the meeting along with senior BSNL officers headed by General Manager G Muralidhar.

Mr Muralidhar highlighted the achievements made and other development works planned to improve mobile, landline and WLL services in the Kashmir valley.

At the meeting, the members appreciated steps taken by the BSNL, but were also critical toward frequent interruption of mobile, Internet and broadband services and also about poor customer interface and cable networking.

They were informed that BSNL had arranged an alternate OFC media bandwidth through the Power Grid Corporation to overcome the problem of frequent interruption in OFC on the 300-km Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

The members suggested decentralisation of customer services by setting up of more centers throughout the Kashmir valley.

Mr Muralidhar informed that a new customer service centre with all facilities has been set up here, which was being made functional soon. A similar centre was also opened at Baramulla, he added.
