Vigilance files chargesheet against two IFS officers
Sambalpur, Sep 6 (UNI) The vigilance police has filed chargesheets against two Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers posted long back at Sambalpur and Sundargarh as Divisional Forest Officers (DFO).
Investigation against these two officers -- Amresh Kumar Jaiswal ex-DFO (Territorial) of Sambalpur and Harishanakr Upaddhyaya ex-DFO of Sundargarh -- was completed five years back but the cases of corruption charges and accumulation of property disproportionate to their known sources of income were pending against them.
Vigilance sources said during a raid at Jaiswal's office and residence at Sambalpur, property worth Rs 8.77 lakh was recovered.
Similarly, Mr Upaddhyaya during his tenure at Sundargarh as DFO showed undue favour to forest contractor for felling trees on the government land for which state government had to incur a loss of Rs 4.65 lakh.
Vigilance police also filed chargesheet against three others range officer Ashok Kumar Tripathy, Revenue Supervisor Judhisthir Patel and contractor Pawan Kumar Agrawal for their involvement in the conspiracy resulting in theloss of government exchequer.
The vigilance police also filed cases against Dr Dhabaleswar Choudhury, posted in Sundargarh district and two police officers of Rourkela -- Budhni Minz and Niranjan Parida -- for accepting bribe money.
