Patil chairs GoM deliberating rights of tribals on forests
New Delhi, Sep 6 (UNI) Home Minister Shivraj Patil today chaired a Group of Ministers meeting to discuss the rights of tribals over forest land and produce.
The hour-long meeting was attened by Panchayati Raj Minister Manishankar Aiyar, Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Tribal Welfare Minister Kyndiah and Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
The Group of Ministers was constituted to deliberate on the concerns of tribal population of the country who have been demanding that their traditional rights over land and forest produce be maintained.
