Orissa moots stringent action to prevent copy in examination
Bhubaneswar, Sep 6 (UNI) In a bid to improve the quality of education, the Orissa government has decided not to make a college an examination centre for ten years if any student was found indulging in copying during the examination.
Orissa Higher Education Minister Samir Dey said the government would also initiate disciplinary action against the teaching and non-teaching staff of the centre and debar the staff on duty at the time of examination in any examination in future.
The Minister said the decision was taken recently on the basis of recommendation of the standing committee on education.
Mr Dey hoped the step would help check copy and improve the quality of education in the state.
The Minister said earlier the government had taken a decision to withdraw the recognition and stop the grants-in-aid to a college whose pass percentage was not up to satisfaction.
Now instead of withdrawing the grants-in-aid and recognition for the poor result, the state government would deprive a college of an examination centre for ten years if the students were found indulging in copying during the examination, Mr Dey said.
