History-sheeter gets 14 days remand
Anand, Gujarat, Sep 6 (UNI) A history-sheeter was today remanded to 14 days police custody by a local court for supplying three pistols and a revolver to two persons in the aftermath of Godhra riots.
Farid Ahmed Bashir Ahmed alias Thaggu Hasmi, originally hailing from Chatona village in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, was arrested on August 31 after a local businessman lodged a complaint with the police that the former was issuing him threats and demanding Rs 3.50 lakh.
During his interrogation, Farid revealed that he had sold a pistol in the aftermath of Godhra riots to a businessman, Mohd Ali alias Laloo Ahmed, in Narsanda village of Kheda district for Rs 7,000. The pistol was recovered yesterday but Ali is absconding.
Farid also confessed he had sold two more pistols and a revolver at Rs 45,000 to Haji Yunus Kapadi who runs a garage at Samarkha chowkdi here. These weapons too were recovered yesterday.
