Funds for Jallaram Shaft Project of Colleries company approved

New Delhi, Sep 6 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave approval for santioning the 2.28 million tonne Jallaram Shaft Project of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) for total outlay of Rs 512.87 crore.

The sum includes capital requirement of Rs 467.78 crore and interest amount of Rs 14.35 crore during the construction.

On completion of the project, 2.285 million tonnes of coal would be produced in a year and would cater to the demand of the NTPC Ramagundam and other cement units.

The SCCL is a public sector company owned by the Andhra Pradesh government and the Centre with equity share of 51:49.

At present, SCCL has 45 underground and 12 opencast operating mines. The company produced 37.71 million tonne of coal in 2006-07.

The Jallaram Shaft Project is located in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh.
