Venkaiah Naidu criticises Congress on Telangana issue
Bangalore, Sep 5 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party Senior Vice President and Rajya Sabha Member Venkaiah Naidu today accused Congress of having deceived the people of Telangana region in Andhra Pradesh by back tracking in forming Telangana State.
Addressing newsmen here, Mr Naidu criticised that Congress, which had promised to carve out a separate Telangana State in Andhra Pradesh during the last election and benefited from it, was now adopting a different stand on the issue.
"The Congress made the tall promise during the election to create separate state for the Telangana region carving out from Andhra Pradesh and fought elections after joining hands with Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and later ignored to fulfill the promise and thus deceived the people" he charged.
He said that the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi had constituted a Committee under the leadership of Pranab Mukherjee three years back which never met even once. Now Congress was talking of leaving the matter Ms Gandhi. "The Congress was now talking on constituting the second State Reorganisation Committee (SRC) which is ridiculous and betrayal of the people of the region" he added.
