Sugar prices gain on heavy festival demand
Navi Mumbai, Sep 5 (UNI) Prices of sugar today ruled firm on sustained heavy seasonal bulk consumers demand in the face of lesser stock, traders at the wholesale sugar market said.
Sugar in small and medium grades (per quintal) was up by Rs 15 and Rs 10 respectively on renewed brisk demand by bulk consumers and retailers. Sellers reserved their stocks in view of forthcoming ganpati festival.
Ex-mill small and medium grades (per quintal) also went up by Rs Rs 25 each owing to increased buying support by millers in the face of reduced stock supply.
Following are the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,325/1,386, Medium grade: Rs 1,370/1,485.
Ex-mill small grade: Rs 1,310/1,355, Medium grade: Rs 1,350/1,460.
