Six CPSEs get SCOPE meritorious awards
New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Santosh Mohan Dev today presented the SCOPE meritorious awards, 2005-06, to six central public sector enterprises (CPSEs), including the National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation that was adjudged the best managed PSE set up Under Section 25.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) bagged the research and development and innovation award, while the award for environment excellence and sustainable development went to Neyveli Lignite Corporation.
The award for corporate social responsibility and responsiveness was won by National Hydroelectric Power Corp. Ltd. (NHPC), for best practice in human Resource management by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), and for good corporate governance by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC).
Presenting the awards, Mr Dev said the 11th Plan growth targets, though ambitious, were very much attainable.
''In this context, the onerous task of developing infrastructure such as power, roads, ports and railways lies largely with the public sector,'' he added.
The awards are presented to CPSEs for demonstrating extra-ordinary skills and to motivate them to achieve higher goals of excellence.
Mr Dev also inaugurated the '3rd Directors Certification Programme on Corporate Governance'.
