SC refuses to entertain petition seeking ban on Hindi song

New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) The Supreme Court today refused to entertain a petition seeking ban on playing of a Hindi movie song which is allegedly highly derogatory and indecent for women.

The petitioner Jyotika Kalra told the bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justice R V Raveendran that the song in Hindi movie 'Shoot out at Lokhandwala' is highly derogatory for women at large.

The petitioner who appeared in person also contended before the court that if such type of songs are not banned what will be the image and reputation of women in the society. The court in its order said " may be it is not in good taste, but we cannot take judicial note of it. Dismissed." The petitioner had prayed to the court to direct the Film Censor Board to withdraw the certificate of exhibition of this song and direct stopping the playing of this song on television, radio and cassettes.

The movie has been produced by Balaji motion pictures limited.
