Raj govt aims to make state power surplus by 2012

Kolkata, Sep 5(UNI) The Rajasthan government has targetted to make the state power surplus by adding 4,500 MW by 2012 with the participation of private parties, Industries Minister Narpat Singh Rajvi said here today.

While speaking at a roadshow, organised by FICCI, Mr Rajvi said an investment of Rs 5,000 crore would be made to bring down transmission and distribution loss by five to 25 per cent in urban and rural areas.

He said the Rajasthan government was also finalising a policy on private-public-partnership (PPP) initiative in the social sector while stress had been put also on textile, tourism and information technology sectors as potential areas.
