No dispute in SAD-BJP over mayorship: Sukhbir
Kapurthala, Sept 5 (UNI) SAD Acting President Sukhbir Singh Badal today said there was no dispute between BJP and SAD over the selection of mayors in Jalandhar, Amritsar , Ludhiana and Patiala Municipal Corporations.
Talking to media persons here today, Mr Sukhbir Singh said,'' the selection of mayors will be taken up tomorrow in Amritsar and on September 7 in Ludhiana. The entire process would be completed by September 11, he added.
''Kanak-Dal scheme would continue in the State and the government had instructed the Deputy Commissioners to remove the irregularities in the scheme. To boost the economy of the State, three mega power projects were being installed on which work would start before March 31 next year'', he asserted.
When his attention was drawn towards the statement of the Punjab Finance Minister, Manpreet Singh Badal, that the economy of state could not be boosted till the stopping of freebies, Mr Badal said,'' it was the internal matter of the government and the party and would be sorted out amicably.
However, he declared that the freebies would continue in Punjab.
Replying to a question on the lathi charge upon teachers, Mr Badal described the incident as ''unfortunate'' but added that teachers should not hold protest on the day considered auspicious for the teacher's community.
He said the government was ready to hold talks with the agitating teachers for peaceful solution to their problems.
