New residents on Galli Galli Sim Sim in season 2
New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) Galli Galli Sim Sim, the popular educational television series showcasing muppet mania is back with a more exciting Season Two and with it are new characters promising an improved blend of education and entertainment.
Learning will continue to be fun with Googly, Chamki and new muppets- ravishing Akshar Kumar, enthusiastic Kewal Khadoosa, bubbly Zoonie, and others along with Revathy- a human character. The show will debut on September 10 on weekdays at 2 pm on POGO.
In its last season, the show, based on the popular American series Sesame Street, was watched by more than 22 million children, aged 4 to 14, as per TAM Media Research data for the period 1st January to the 19th of May 2007. This has made it the most watched Children's show aired on POGO, Cartoon Network and Doordarshan.
Announcing the launch of the show, Executive Director, Sesame Workshop India Sashwati Banerjee said, "Extending the reach of the programme and reinforcing the educational goals to populations most in need is our primary objective. From using innovative mobile platforms such as a hand-held cart to producing educational resources for children and caregivers in balwaadis (child care centres), our vision is to make Galli Galli Sim Sim an integral part of a child's early years of development".
Research shows that educational inputs have a direct and profound bearing on a child's life. The first six years of a child's life are globally acknowledged as the most critical years of lifelong development.
'' The show embraces a whole child curriculum spanning five critical areas of early childhood development-physical, cognitive, emotional, social and cultural.
