ND school under SNC celebrates 55th anniversary

Kochi, Sep 5 (UNI) The Navigation and Direction (ND) school under the Southern Naval Command (SNC) celebrated its 55th anniversary today.

Specialist navigators, Heads of other training schools and officers from the Coast Guard participated in the celebrations, according to an official release.

In keeping with the naval traditions, the senior most navigator and Pricipal of Naval Academy Rear Admiral Andre Aroume, alongwith the youngest sailor MER Vinay Kumar, cut the cake to mark the occasion.

SNC Chief of Staff Rear Admiral Sunil Lanba released the school's professional magazine 'Dhruv'.

The school, commissioned in 1952, had grown into a full fledged institution, training various aspects of navigation using Nav-aids and simulators.

The school with 15 officers and 60 sailors as staff, would train about 230 officers and 600 sailors annually including those from foreign Navies. The institution is affiliated to Cochin University.
